A large original print from the Illustrated London News 1843. This print was part of an interesting early marketing exercise by the founder of the Illustrated London News, Herbert Ingram. This print was issued to early subscribers to the weekly paper which was the first illustrated paper of its kind. A quite rare survivor this print has not been colourised and is in the original condition that it was issued in 1842. The picture shows two views, the north and south vistas as seen from the top of the Duke of York’s Column by the Mall. Presenting a fascinating insight into London life in the middle of the 19thC.
