A George III period mahogany dressing chest of drawers, conforming to designs by George Hepplewhite in his cabinet makers guide. These dressing drawers have a baize covered slide covering the top drawer, below which are various lidded compartments. There is a space in the middle where a hinged mirror would originally have been. The handles are the original brasses and the whole stands on bracket feet with a moulded detail and scroll. We have sensitively restored the chest by replacing small amounts of missing stringing to the top and one of the scrolls to the bracket foot. The quality of the cabinet work is excellent and was quite likely made by Gillows. (It came from a private house in the North West) C.1780-1800
